Real Estate Mogul Sam Boraie Is Also A Dedicated Humanitarian

Any conversation about New Brunswick, New Jersey is not complete unless the name Boraie is mentioned. The Boraie family is one of the most influential families in the state. Omar Boraie, the Egyptian chemist, turned real estate developer, saw opportunity in New Brunswick when people started moved out of the city and into the suburbs during the 1960s. The mass exodus from downtown New Brunswick was an economic nightmare for the city. Empty buildings, as well as drug and gang activity, made the inner city a mecca for criminals and lowlifes. Omar Boraie invested in downtown New Brunswick in the 1970s, and that investment paid off. Boraie Development was the first company to build a high-rise office building downtown. The One Spring Street residential building was the next Boraie project, reports Yahoo. When Sam Boraie joined his father’s company, the revitalization of downtown New Brunswick was in full swing, but Sam added another dimension to the downtown project.

According to his Crunchbase, Sam Boraie is a New York City lover. The architecture and the pulse of the city attract New Jersey residents like Sam to the city every day. Sam wanted to duplicate that pulse in New Brunswick, so he played a role in developing the first luxury residential high-rise in New Brunswick. Sam also worked with Shaq O’Neil, the basketball great, on a Newark luxury residential building. Both projects confirmed Sam Boraie’s creativity and his talent in the real estate business.

But Sam Boraie is not just a real estate developer. Sam is a humanitarian. Boraie spends a great deal of time working with Elijah’s Promise, the nonprofit that feeds the hungry in New Jersey. Since 1989, Elijah’s Promise has alleviated hunger and empowered low-income families in New Jersey. Elijah’s Promise operates a soup kitchen, catering business, culinary arts school, and a pay-if-you-can café for people that don’t know where their next meal is coming from. Sam Boraie is a member of the Advisory Board of State Theater New jersey, and according to Sam, the nonprofit serves more than 100,000 meals a year to hungry people. The organization also trains unskilled workers, so they can get a job in the food industry. Sam Boraie’s motto and the Elijah’s Promise motto is the same; “no one in the state of New Jersey should go hungry.”

Breaking the cycle of poverty and harnessing the power of food are Sam Boraie’s goals. Even though Sam Boraie is exposed to the finer things in life, he spends a great deal of time with people who have less than the bare necessities. Sam played an important role in establishing the Elijah’s Promise Culinary School through his leadership and donations. The Elijah’s Promise Culinary School trains hundreds of students and then helps place those students in food service jobs. In 2010, the school expanded its curriculum. The baking and pastry program was added to the curriculum. The baking and pastry program gives students a chance to work in the professional baking industry once they complete the course. Boraie also supports the Meals on Wheels program in the state.
