Among the greatest and most accomplished production managers the world has ever seen is Mr. Louis R. Chênevert, the CEO and board chairman at United Technologies Corporation (UTC). The 58 years old Canadian businessman has received many awards over his career that now stretches past three decades and has had the privilege of heading some of the most prestigious production firms in Canada. His alma mater is the University of Montreal Business School, from where he holds a bachelor’s degree in production management. The institution also honored Louis with an honorary degree in 2011.
Louis R. Chênevert first major job came through in 1979 when he was hired by General Motors. For 14 years, he worked and served in different offices and ranks at the company, impressing in every step of the way. His good job caught the eye of big companies in the region, and in1993, Pratt & Whitney Canada offered him employment of which he took and did a commendable job while at it. Six years on, he was promoted to the senior most post rank at the organization- the presidency. When the time came for George David to leave, Louis was the most suitable candidate to replace him as CEO and President of UTC. He officially took up the position in March 2006. He stayed with UTC until 2014, and joined Goldman Sachs in 2015.
As the head of UTC, Louis Chenevert has made many contributions towards the growth of Canada’s business scene and the economy as a whole. As such, reputable organizations in the region have honored him with different prestigious accolades among them the 2060 FDNY Fire Commissioner’s Humanitarian Award as well as the National Building Museums’ Honor Award of 2009. Over and above that, he was recognized for his impeccable business leadership skills in 2010, taking home the coveted Pace Award for Leadership in Business Ethics. In 2011, the Aviation Week & Space Technology magazine announced that Louis was its Person of the Year.
